ΣΠΟΡΟΙ ΦΙΛΟΖΩΙΑΣ

 Οι Α,Β,Γ τάξεις επισκέφτηκαν τις πάπιες στο Βίντσι. Ακολουθεί το κείμενο της κ .Πατρίσιας που έχει φτιάξει τα τρία " γάτο ξενοδοχεία " στο δρόμο του Αγίου Φωκά ,που επισκέφθηκαν οι Δ,Ε,Στ τάξεις.

Hello to everybody on World Stray Animal Day! Tina asked me to come by and talk to you but I'm not in Tinos. You may already know me?...or have seen me toward the end of Agios Fokas beach road when I' m feeding and tending to stray cats, having managed with the OK of the council, to put together 3 little feeding and shelter stations for them. I have had a lot of help from friends who share my love and concern for these cats that I have come to know every day over a period of 3 years! A most important aspect has been the neutering and sterilizing that prevents them from reproducing a mind-boggling number of cats that suffer and starve. Mine is a "drop in the bucket" in terms of animal suffering. My activity started by chance. I was in Tinos by chance, but what we sometimes consider chance may also be a positive energy guiding us in the right direction? I was in staying in Agios Fokas by chance at the end of that summer. My husband had suddenly had some serious health problems. We could not travel back to France after our vacation...so we stayed on  and on and on.

A restaurant nearby closed.  10 cats were left hanging around wondering "Now what?" So I started to feed them in the little woods, to get to know them.A wonderful artist Phaethon Gryparis soon came up to me and said “ I will build little shelters for them and so he did. Down the road there were more cats and then more until there were three stations.

I am by no means the only person who cares for stray cats in Tinos. But even so, the problem of strays is huge, as you may know. The need for neutering the cats is gigantic and there is no real organisation to handle this. I have no sponsor. Only friends. With one of my friends here, who is involved with finding homes for neutered stray Tinos cats going to England, with every adoption there is the plan to ask for a donation toward another cat waiting to be neutered here!

We will get that started! I wish there could be a veritable cat sanctuary here...Don't you? I want to believe this can and will happen.
